Sets Folderbird up the ordinary way — a Start Menu entry, and a real entry in Add or remove programs for the day you want it gone. It installs into your own user folder, so Windows never asks for an administrator password.

Unzip it anywhere and run it — a USB stick, a second drive, a PC you are not allowed to install software on. Nothing is registered with Windows, which also means there is no uninstaller: when you are done, close the app and delete the folder.

Windows may still say “Windows protected your PC”. Here is why, and what to check.
SmartScreen warns about any app it has not yet seen a lot of people install. That is reputation, not trust, and every brand-new release starts with none of it — Microsoft stopped letting a certificate switch the warning off in 2024, so a signed app gets the same prompt as an unsigned one on day one.
What signing changes is what the dialog says. Click More info and you should see Publisher: Tair Foundation For CIT, then Run anyway. If it says Unknown publisher, or any other name, you did not get the file from us — delete it. You can check the same thing before running anything: right-click the file → Properties → Digital Signatures, or match the SHA‑256 above.
The prompt fades on its own as installs accumulate, and because every release is signed with the same certificate, that reputation carries over to future versions instead of resetting each time.
